High Altitude Balloon with cell phone connection?
Hi
I want to build my own H.A.B., which basically is a big helium balloon that has a flight processor, which sends data to a computer.
Normally, a H.A.B. has a GPS and a camera, and sends its location through a antenna to the computer. Once it has landed, you just find it and have really cool pictures on the camera.
In my case, I want a camera module ( http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8739 ) put its RCA signal through the microphone of a cell phone and receive all the signal information on another cell phone’s speakers. I will not need to track the balloon anymore, for I’ve got the pictures already.
Questions:
1: At what altitude does the cell phone reception not work anymore? – It’s very windy up there.
2: Is it actually possible to send the RCA signal through a cellphone connection? – RCA has a very high frequency.
You will probably need a cell phone signal booster, they will work wonders on cell phone reception.
